With the government recognising that many households need support to help deal with rising energy bills, domestic electricity customers in Great Britain will receive a £400 grant which will appear as a credit from energy suppliers from October 2022 onwards.
And, the good news this will not need to be repaid!
We've been receiving questions around this, so I have done a quick Q&A below:
When will I receive the extra £400?
Originally, we had hoped this would be paid in July, but it looks like October now, which was the date for the original £200 (before that was increased to this £400).
How will I receive it?
All households with a domestic electricity connection will automatically receive the £400 as a form of a reduction to your electricity bill in October.
What happens if I'm on a prepaid meter?
You will receive a voucher through the post or electronically (still to be finalised) which can be used the next time you top up your meter.
Do I have to apply?
No, it is automatic.
Do I have to repay any of these monies?
No.
Is it taxable?
No, so we do not need to know about it when completing your Tax Returns.
Can I find out more information anywhere?
